Are you lost on Lost?

Last night ended the amazing run of the TV Series LOST. I didn't get into LOST till my wife rented the first season DVDs and forced me to watch the pilot episode with her. When the guy got sucked into the plane engine, I was both shocked and intrigued at the same time. I decided that I needed to find out what happened next, so I watched the next episode. Then I HAD to know what the smoke monster was, so I watched the rest of the series.

I STILL don't know what the smoke monster is!! And this is one of my chief gripes with the finale. It did not answer several questions I had that I wanted to know, and expected to have answered by the final episodes of the show. I wanted to know:
  • What/where is the Island? Where does it get it's 'power' from, and what is that light down in that cave?
  • What is the smoke monster?
  • Who are Jacob and his brother? Where did they get their power from?
My other gripe with the finale is the false representation that all religions lead to 'heaven'. The religious idols and the stained glass window that was so prominent when Jack walked into the church and was talking to his dad by the coffin made that message clear. Jesus made it clear that there is only 1 way, and that is through belief of Him and acceptance of Him as Lord and Savior: John 14:6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
