So now a kid dancing to a Christian song is the same thing as Congress passing a law establishing religion? Sounds to me more like prohibiting the free exercise thereof!!!
When are these idiots going to read the Constitution??
California School District Changes Policy After Trying to Ban Christian Song From Talent Show - FoxNews.com
Ramblings. . . . Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

This Lent thing.....
One of the guys in my Monday Night Bible study challenged us to do something for Lent this year. Lent has never been practiced at the churches I've gone to, so I've never participated before.
In fact, I was once so ignorant about Ash Wednesday that one year a guy I was working with went to an Ash Wednesday service at lunch (I didn't even know it was Ash Wednesday). He came back with the ash mark on his forehead. When he walked by my desk I saw the mark out of the corner of my eye and said, "Hey, you have something on your forehead." He got angry and said, "Very funny." I was confused. Later on that day I found out it was Ash Wednesday and someone told me about the practice, so I went to him and appologized.
So anyway, Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent. "Ash Wednesday derives its name from the practice of placing ashes on the foreheads of adherents as a sign of mourning and repentance to God." (Wikipedia)
"Lent in the Christian tradition, is the period of the liturgical year leading up to Easter. Lent is a time of sacrifice for Jesus. The traditional purpose of Lent is the preparation of the believer — through prayer, repentance, almsgiving and self-denial — for the annual commemoration during Holy Week of the Death and Resurrection of Jesus, which recalls the events linked to the Passion of Christ and culminates in Easter, the celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ." "There are traditionally forty days in Lent which are marked by fasting, both from foods and festivities, and by other acts of penance. The three traditional practices to be taken up with renewed vigour during Lent are prayer (justice towards God), fasting (justice towards self), and almsgiving (justice towards neighbour). Today, some people give up a vice of theirs, add something that will bring them closer to God, and often give the time or money spent doing that to charitable purposes or organizations."(Wikipedia)
Well, this year I'm going to do 'this Lent thing' and see what comes of it. I really wasn't sure what to do though, so I talked to people and did some internet research. Lent is practiced quite a few different ways. I've decided I'm going to do Meats & Sweets.
Now if you know me, you think that sweets will be no big deal for me. For the most part you're right. I can skip a donut or a candy bar or a piece of cake and its no big deal. On the other hand, I like coke and sweet tea and Quacker caramel corn rice snacks. I just gave my bag of Quacker caramel corn rice snacks to a co-worker.
Meat is an entirely different story. I like meat. Pretty much any meat. From your basic sandwich meat you get at Wal-Mart to a fine steak. Meat is good. Pretty much every meal I have has meat in it. Eggs and sausage at breakfast. Sandwich meat or leftovers from last nights meat meal for lunch. Maybe a hamburger or something if I happen to go out. Dinner always has meat. Chicken. Beef. Shrimp. Pork. Crab. Whatever. I love all types of meat.
It's going to be hard not to eat meat for 40 days. But if I get some physical & spiritual health benefits from it, then it's worth it.
Now one thing I'm still confused on, and I'd like other people's perspectives..... I've read that Lent is actually 46 days and some people 'skip' the 6 Sunday's because they represent a 'mini-Easter'. What do you think? Should Sundays be excluded? Does this minimize your commitment?

Popular vote overturned by activist liberal judge again!
Something HAS to be done about a single judge overruling the will of the people. 70% of Okalhoma voters voted for a ban on Shari'a law being considered in Oklahoma court cases, but 1 federal judge has blocked the law from being implemented base on 1 muslim's complaint. This muslim doesn't even live in Oklahoma, it seems! He has no standing to dispute the law that the voters overwhelmingly supported.
Pluralistic society?? This guys is already trying to push islamic law in America. We are not a pluralistic society. This country was founded on Christian principles, period. Our founding fathers didn't consider any facet of islam when writing the Constitution.
This judge and others like her need to be removed from the bench! What ever happened to government of the people, by the people, for the people???
"We are humbled by this opportunity to show our fellow Oklahomans that Muslims are their neighbors and that we are committed to upholding the U.S. Constitution and promoting the benefits of a pluralistic society," Awad said.

Socialist dictatorship averted?
Well, Obama is clearly not happy about the result of this week's election. He's lost his stranglehold on the nation and it upsets him. What gets me is that so many people bought his crap and many are still buying it. If you look at his words, he's telling you exactly what his agenda is, and that is to make this a socialist nation, controlled by a single party.
As I mentioned in this post, Obama wants nothing less than a socialist nation. I'd even suspect his true aim might be a communist nation. Socialism is usually just a transition into communism. His talk about redistributing wealth and his conscious choice to make friends with Marxists make this abundantly clear.
His words yesterday (November 3, 2010) also allude to the fact that he's unhappy that he's lost total control of the government: "What yesterday also told us is that no one party will be able to dictate where we go from here, that we must find common ground in order to set -- in order to make progress on some uncommonly difficult challenges."
His "one party" can no longer dictate to us whats going to happen. I can only praise God that enough people woke up and got fed up with the direction Obama and a democratic congress was taking this nation. Remember my post from September, 2008? Here's a reminder:
Things have only gotten worse since we've had both a democratically controlled congress AND a democrat president. Gas has fluctuated and currently stands around $2.55/gallon. Unemployment is sky high. The foreclosure rate has increased. My house, which I bought for $174,000 in 2005 (at the time it was appraised at $179,900) recently appraised for $162,000. Since 2006 I got laid off once and I've only had 1 raise because the companies I've worked for have had salary freezes in place.
I can now only hope that the congress we've elected will be successful in improving things in this country. It's going to be difficult with a democratically controlled Senate and an ultra-liberal socialist dictator-wannabe as a president. They've pretty much already said they're going to do all they can to block any republican sponsored legislation.

FACT: During Bush's first 6 years as President and under a Republican controlled congress, I more than doubled my income.
FACT: Ever since Democrats took control of congress, I have not had a raise or bonus.
Before Democrats took control:
1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high
2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon
3) The unemployment rate was 4.5%.
Since voting in a Democratic Congress in 2006 we have seen:
1) Consumer confidence plummet;
2) The cost of regular gasoline soar to over $3.50 a gallon;
3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase);
4) American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity value evaporate (stock and mutual fund losses);
5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $1.2 trillion dollars;
6) 1% or more of American homes are in foreclosure.
America voted for change in 2006, and we got it! It just wasn't for anyone's good!

An Egregious Offense.....?
I just caught a few seconds of a story on the news. I don't know who this person was that said this, but it really set me off. The story was about that church down in Florida that is going to have a "holy" quran book burning on 9/11. The lady was apparently a religious leader of some sort, I missed who she is, but she said that the quran burning would be 'an egregious offense."
First, lets define these words (from http://www.m-w.com):
egre·gious adj \i-ˈgrē-jəs\
Definition of EGREGIOUS
2: conspicuous; especially : conspicuously bad : flagrant
Offense could have several definitions that would be in context of her statement:
of·fense noun
Definition of OFFENSE
2: something that outrages the moral or physical senses
4a : the act of displeasing or affronting b : the state of being insulted or morally outraged
5a : a breach of a moral or social code
So, essentially this lady is saying that burning the quran would be a conspicuously bad act of displeasing or affronting, or one that is insulting or morally outrageous.
What then, was the flying of 2 passenger planes into the World Trade Center? What then, was the crashing of an airliner into the Pentagon? What then, is the attempted crashing of a jet into the US Capitol? What then, is the beheading of a journalist? What then, is the suicide bombing of markets? I could list many more "egregious offenses".
Don't give me the crap that these acts were done by 'extremists' or 'radicals'. If you'd bother to look into islam and read the quran, you would find that islam is anything but a peaceful religion. Islam's primary mandate is to convert 'infidels' to islam or kill them if they won't convert. The radicals are the muslims who claim they are peaceful. I say 'claim' because how can you trust any muslim when the quran teaches tactics of deceit and infiltration (this is called Taqiyya and/or Kitman)? These so-called peaceful muslims are just sleepers. Infiltrators waiting for their moment. They point to the parts of the quran that supposedly teach about peace, love and forgiveness. What they don't talk about is the principle of naskh. Naskh is the principle that governs which part of the quran would override another in the case of a contradiction. Newer revelations to muhammad would override previous ones. Surah 9:5 overrides all 114 previous verses about love, peace and forgiveness. It says, "But when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practise regular charity, then open the way for them: for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful." (Ali translation)
Don't give me the crap that burning the quran would be an intolerant act. I'll tell you what's intolerant. How about muslims all over the world in violent protests just because someone drew a picture of muhammad? How about the fatwa on Salman Rushdie for writing the Satanic Verses? ("...the novel caused great controversy for what many Muslims believed were blasphemous references. The book was banned in India, was burned in demonstrations in the United Kingdom, and was the subject of a violent riot in Pakistan. In February 1989, the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, issued a fatwa calling on all good Muslims to kill or help kill Rushdie and his publishers." Wikipedia) What about Saudi Arabia's ban on any religion but islam? Try taking a Bible into an islamic country. You'll be incarcerated or killed. Islam is the most INTOLERANT religion of all.
Don't be fooled that the mosque they want to erect near Ground Zero is an attempt at reconcilliation and peace, an attempt to help Americans understand muslims better. A mosque is nothing of the sort.
Wake up, America! Islam is not your friend. They want to convert you, and if they can't do that, they want to kill you.
As Americans, we need to see Islam for what it is - a threat to our country, our freedom and our lives.
As Christians, however, we are called to love our enemies and burning the book that is holy to muslims is not an act of love.
Burning the quran is not the answer. If anything, it will only incite more muslim violence. While these people in Florida have the right via the First Amendment to express their opinion, this is not the best way to do it. I like what Joel Roseberg says on his blog. He says, "turn back to the Bible and follow the words of Jesus who told us to love our neighbors and love our enemies and pray for — not purposefully provoke — those who oppose, mistreat and/or persecute us." and "Call for a day of prayer and fasting for Muslims here in the U.S. and around the world, that they might find the love of Christ and salvation through His name."

This is known as the verse of the sword, and it explains that Muslims must fight anyone who chooses not to convert to Islam, whether they are inside or outside of Arabia. It is considered to represent the final development of jihad in Islam. The principle of naskh is very strong. If a verse is nasikh, or overridden, it is as if that verse doesn't even exist.1

...the mosque during the prophet Muhammad's time was not just the place of worship. It was also a place to store weapons and make military plans. When Muhammad was in Medina, he used the mosque as headquarters for all of his wars. Even after his death, his successors used the mosques for the same purposes.They're wanting to call it "Cordoba House".
A mosque in Islam is the center for worship, justice, war strategy and government. This is because Isalm is both a religion and government. Islam is a pen and a sword.
Prophet Muhammad made it clear to Muslims that the mosque isn't like a synagogue or a church.... When there was an order to fight, the announcement was made at the mosque. The rulers after Muhammad continued this practice. Throughout Islamic history you can see that all movements of jihad came out of the mosque. 2
Córdoba was the capital of the Spanish Muslim dynasty of the Ummayads (756-1031). The Great Mosque of Córdoba (La Mezquita) was founded 785 CE. It was added to and expanded over the next two hundred years to make it the third largest structure in the Islamic world.Sacred PlacesHistorically, muslims build a mosque on a site of a military victory. This is exaclty what the Cordoba house represents to muslims. A victory. They built a mosque in Cordoba, Spain to represent the conquest of the Iberian peninsula, and they want to build one in New York to represent the conquest of the United States.
Wake up, America! Islam is not your friend. They want to convert you, and if they can't do that, they want to kill you.
